Bozeman, MT — A trapper education class is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 25, at Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks’ Butte Area Resource Office, 1820 Meadowlark Lane.

The class will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., with an hour-long break for lunch. Topics will include trapping equipment, trap setting, ethics, regulations, furbearer identification and fur handling. Class participants will receive a certificate of completion, the Montana Trappers Association trapping handbook and other informational material. The class is sponsored by the Montana Trappers Association and FWP.

The class is free and open to the public. An adult must accompany youth who are under 12 years old. Preregistration is required by contacting Butte area biologist Vanna Boccadori at 406-494-2082.

This class does not certify participants for Montana’s wolf trapping season. Prospective wolf trappers must complete Montana’s Wolf Trapper Education Certification course, traditionally offered in the summer in Bozeman and in other areas of the state.

For more information or to sign up, please contact Boccadori at 406-494-2082 or Fran Buell of the Montana Trappers Association at education@montanatrappers.org.
