A silent-era archive film of the Arctic fur trade, made to mark the 250th anniversary of the Hudson's Bay Company in 1920 has been recovered and restored for modern audiences.

A film crew travelled from coast to coast, deep into the wilderness of Canada to record the lives of fur trappers.

The Return of the Far Fur Country project sees the restored film footage go on tour around Canada beginning Saturday 21 January 2012 including to remote communities, home to descendants of some of those who appear in it. Follow the tour at the above link or via the Twitter account: @fivedoorfilms.
