Raymond "R.C." Fritz Jr.

October 16, 1947 - July 26, 2021

ABINGDON, Va.

Raymond C. Fritz Jr. "R.C.", 73, left this life to join his wife, Mae Fritz two months after her passing on July 26, 2021.

He was born on October 16, 1947, to the late Raymond C. Fritz "Toot" and Virginia Thomas Fritz.

He was a former employee of Hapco and retired after 43 years. In his life he enjoyed farming, fishing, hunting, trapping, and gardening. He was a huge New York Yankees fan. Above all, he loved his family.

He is survived by his son, whom he was very proud of, Jeff Fritz and wife, Betsy of Meadowview, Va..; sister, Carla and John Hayes of Elizabethton, Tenn.; brother, Thomas "Hoppy" Fritz and wife, Tammy, of Abingdon, Va.; grandchildren whom he was extremely proud of, Lauren and Jared Sauls of Chilhowie, Va., Matthew and Andrew Fritz of Meadowview, Va.; great-granddaughter, Everly Sauls whom he nicknamed, "Paddle foot" and great-grandson, Eli Sauls whom he just met; aunt, Ann Phillips; uncle, Carl and Gail Fritz, along with several nieces and nephews and a very special nephew, Brent Odom. He is also survived by his Boston Terrier, George whom often was in the front seat of his truck riding; he was a faithful companion.

In lieu of flowers, contribution can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in honor of Kael Hill.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 30, 2021, at 1 p.m. in the Frost Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Dwayne Dillard officiating. Visitation will be from 12 until 1 p.m. Burial will follow the service on Friday at Sunset Memorial Park in Damascus, Va.

Friends can stop by the residence of R.C. Fritz at any time to visit.

Pallbearers will be Brent Odom, Dustin Eades, Larry Brown, Wade Blevins, Nader Crosswhite, Bill Holiday, Wayne Parris, and Tom Fizer. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Burke, Jack Gilley, Bill Sutherland, Dean Morrison, Jaye Baldwin, and friends and former coworkers of Hapco.
