The Milwaukee River slipped quietly through the high-shouldered, tree-lined valley just north of downtown Milwaukee.

At 6:30 a.m. a veil of mist helped add a peaceful "hush" to the scene.

But then a large "V" pushed upstream, just below the surface.
My fellow anglers and I watched with great interest. After all, steelhead and brown trout were the reason we assembled along the river that morning. Could it be a very large fish?
