Nearly 1,200 bears harvested before regular PA hunting season officially begins

This year, 1,186 bears have already been harvested, Penn Live reports. These animals were harvested during early hunting seasons in the southeastern and southwestern portions of the state.

The number of hunters is expected to be higher this year as well. Last year, the state saw a record number of hunters hit the woods. A total of 220,471 people purchased bear licenses last year, which was an increase from 2019 – also a record year.
