ESCANABA — Once again the largest trapping event in the nation will be coming to Escanaba – from July 28-30, 2023. filling area motels and cabins; and giving restaurants and other small businesses a needed boost.

The Convention Selection Committee met at the National Convention in Spencer, Iowa two weeks ago and selected the U.P. Trappers Association to host the 2023 Annual National Trappers Convention at the Fairgrounds in Escanaba, according to a news release.

“Attendees come from nearly every state in the nation and several foreign countries, and many are planning to stay an extra week or more to enjoy all that the Upper Peninsula has to offer,” the statement read. “This is a family friendly event with a special building and many events for children of all ages.”

Convention Coordinator, Roy Dahlgren, says it takes thousands of dollars and a hundred or more dedicated volunteers to make a convention of this size run smoothly. Anyone wishing to help at the event or wanting to be an event sponsor can call Roy at 906-399-1960.

“The largest trapping event in the United States is once again coming to the beautiful Upper Peninsula of Michigan in 2023,” said Bob Steinmetz, NTA director for the U.P. Trappers Association.
