Virginia needs your help Please make sure to email, and understand that this is as crucial as our last alert. Share it widely

Senate Bill SB492 was introduced on 12 January 2022. It prohibits the use of snares to hunt or kill game animals. It is slated for discussion on 1/25 in Committee. There are no public comments yet.

House Bill 725, introduced 12 January 2022, is a proposed amendment that would ban all steel jawed traps.

Note item #10 on the proposed amendment.

Two more snare bills were introduced on 17 January 2022.. One is a House companion bill to SB492 that was introduced last week. The other prohibits snares greater than 12" in circumference. Both these bills came from Delegate Ransone who represents the district that includes Richmond County.

Both of these bills have been Referred to Committee on Agriculture, Chesapeake and Natural Resources.


We need any and all members to call, email or contact their representatives in objection to these bills. Now that they are in Committee, we need to put pressure on the Committee members.
