GREENVILLE – Myron Delmar Downing passed away peacefully at age 68 at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor on Oct. 1, 2021.He was born in Waterville on Sept. 13, 1953. Myron was a lifetime resident of the Belgrade Lakes/Rome area. In his retirement years he fulfilled his lifetime goal and resided in Greenville, Maine.Prior to his moving to Greenville, Myron was a longtime employee of the State of Maine D.O.T.He enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and trapping. He always had a good story to tell. Myron also loved spending time with his family, most of all his six grandchildren.He was predeceased by his parents, Fay Alvin Downing, Jr., and Ester Elizabeth (Tracy) Downing.Myron will be sadly missed by his two daughters, Melissa Hafernecker and her husband, Olan, along with their five children of Lebanon, and Rebecca Carey and her fiancé, Brandon Bishop, and daughter of Charleston; his brother, Howard Downing and his wife, Sally of North Belgrade; his sister, Gail Rizzo and her husband, Frank of Belgrade Lakes; his aunt, Beverly Beal of Industry; and many nephews, nieces, cousins, and special friends.Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 16, at Brookside Cemetery on the Wooster Hill Road in Rome.Arrangements are in the care of Wheeler Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 26 Church Street, Oakland, Maine.
