MARK "BILL" WILLIAM KASTEN
Mark "Bill" William Kasten, 71, of Hallstead, PA entered into rest on January 24, 2023 after a long illness. He is survived by his beloved wife of almost 44 years, Sherry; by his daughters, Billie (Michael) Klecko and Erin (Matt) Smith; three grandchildren, Matthew Bednarchik, Teagan Smith, and Reilly Klecko; two brothers, Michael Kasten and James (Jan) Kasten; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a step daughter, Tamarra Strawn; and his parents, Charles and Martha Kasten.
Will was a "Mountain Man" at heart. He was hired by the Pennsylvania Game Commission when he was 18 and retired after 35 years of service. He served as a Deputy Game Warden for 11 years. He owned a trapping supply business and was featured and honored at trapping conventions nationwide. Will was a member of the Pennsylvania Trapper's Association, and past President, The National Trapper's Association, The New Milford Rifle and Pistol Club, The NRA, and The Pennsylvania Federation of Sportsmen and Conservationists, and past officer. He was inducted into the Pennsylvania Trappers Hall of Fame in 2019. He dedicated much of his time teaching Hunter Education, specifically Trapper Education and Animal Identification. Outside of the class, he spent countless hours mentoring trappers and promoting the trade.
Will was a jokester, always smiling and laughing. He easily made friends and couldn't go anywhere without bumping into someone he knew. Will could recall song lyrics from years ago easily to entertain anyone nearby. He was loyal, kind, and truly a gentle man. Will was simply the best and leaves behind a legacy, of which his family is extremely proud.
Friends are welcome to a celebration of his life which will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home, Inc., Hallstead, PA. Private inurnment will be made in Franklin Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 10-1, at the funeral home, prior to the service. Throughout his life, Bill supported St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 and The American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741 and the family prefers memorial donations to them instead of flowers.
