A Michigan hunter is being investigated for multiple violations after they trapped what they thought was a coyote, but it was a wolf, officials said.

Todd Sumbera, a conservation officer with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, District 2, recently received a call from a hunter who used a cable restraint to catch what they had believed to be a coyote, but they wanted confirmation, according to a DNR enforcement report.
