Original Title: Peruvian products join China's online trading platform

Peru's Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru) reported on Thursday that quinoa, maca, sacha inchi, chocolate, pisco, and alpaca fur garments are some of the Peruvian products which can be purchased through Jingdong —the largest retailer in China— since December 1.

Peru's flagship store is multi-sectorial and multi-product. Besides, it is the first of its kind to operate on a commercial platform in the Asian Giant through the cross-border e-commerce model —the most popular for the purchase of imported products in China.

The Peruvian presence in this important electronic commerce platform was possible thanks to the signing of an inter-institutional agreement between Jingdong International and PromPeru, which was supported by the South American country's Trade Office in Beijing.

In Jingdong, there are 11 Inca companies that already offer their products to the Chinese market. Incasur and Deguste are present selling quinoa grains, flakes, bars, and cookies; Amazon Andes offers maca, sacha inchi, and camu camu capsules; Wanka Foods distributes maca tea; Shattel sells drinkable and chocolate bar, as wells Natural Crystal Salt along with Maras salt.

Buyers can also find pisco from Santiago Queirolo and Tabernero brands. For their part, Norgäte, Manos del Perú, and Alpaca Kapchiy have been exhibiting alpaca accessories and toys.

The Chinese operator estimates that this virtual store will generate US$430,000 in sales during the first year; US$880,000 in the second, and US$1.5 million in the third one.

The launching event of the Peruvian store was attended by senior executives from Jingdong; Peru's Ambassador to China Luis Quesada; PromPeru Executive-President Luis Torres; and Peruvian businesspeople who are part of the project (in an institutional video).

Jingdong (JD.com) is a comprehensive consumer platform for imported goods. In terms of cross-border acquisitions, it has attracted more than 20,000 brands since 2015 and currently has around 362 million active users.
