Keith L. Ziller, 83, of Marengo, passed away after a short illness Friday, May 19, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born May 5, 1940, in Joliet, the 7th son of Charles D. and Martha M. (Hoskins) Ziller. On September 6, 1981, he married Vivian Henne-Kosek in Elgin.
In 1951 the family moved from Joliet to Gilberts, then onto Woodstock. It was the country life that Keith loved and learned to become an avid hunter & trapper, trapping countless creek banks in McHenry County. He loved hunting season, doing many hunts with his sons & grandsons, and traveling up to Mahnomen, MN to hunt with his longtime best friend, Butch Gordon. Keith was a proud lifetime member of Local 150 Operating Engineers, where he started his career right out of school.
He is survived by his sons, Brian (Babe), Jodie (Pam), and Chadd Ziller; grandchildren, Clayton (Melissa), Chase (Tarah), Jake (Erin), and Joanne (Will) O'Hearn. Known as "Cowboy Grandpa" to his great-grandchildren who he thought the world of, Jeremy, Landon, Colton, Easton, Paisley, Cannon, Case, Lily, & Dahlia; brothers, Ronnie, Paul (Fern), Daniel (Jeannie), and Larry; and sisters-in-law, Wilma, and Wanda Ziller.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Vivian (Kosek) Ziller; brothers, Roger, Bert, Allen, and Tom; his sister, Judy Kaiser; and grandsons, Lucas, and Heston Ziller.
A Memorial Visitation will be celebrated from 12 Noon – 3 PM on Sunday, June 4, 2023, at the James A. O'Connor Funeral Home, 11603 E. Main St. in Huntley.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Keith's name may be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org or Faustman Lab to cure Type 1 Diabetes at www.faustmanlab.org/donate
