James A. Heidl, 77, formerly of Sandusky and residing in New London, passed away early Saturday morning, Nov. 12, 2022, at Crystal Care Center of Ashland following a lengthy illness.
Jim was born Oct. 14, 1945, in Sandusky, to the late Joyce Karl and Irene Margaret (Baaske) Heidl.
Jim was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Vietnam War. He enjoyed hunting, trapping, fishing, and spending time with his family. He retired from General Motors in 2005 after 34 years of service.
He is survived by his wife, Linda (Burdo) Heidl of New London; two sons, Dreu (Kristi) Heidl of Huron and CJ Osher of Sandusky; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; brother, Steven (Peggy) Heidl; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brother, Danny Heidl.
Private family services will be conducted at a later date. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory are handling arrangements for the family.

Dear Linda,
So sorry for the loss of Jim as he was a good soul. My memory of Jim is working around him when we were all in Department 380. Always appreciated Jim's humor no matter what the situation. Reminds me also when you and Jim would walk in and out of the plant holding hands.
Jim will be sadly missed and again I am so sorry for your loss.
