They're so cheap (and work just fine so far) that (my opinion) you can leave in the batteries without worrying you'll corrode the insides and wow.......what a difference it makes to just pick up the headlamp and "go."

Also comes with 6 AAA batteries (three needed for the lamp, but again you get two lamps). Good strap, totally worth the money so far (I've had them about a week).
