Spencer, IA (KICD)– The local population is going to temporarily grow for the next few days as thousands of visitors come to Spencer for the National Trappers Association Convention.

Vickie Wright is the Convention Coordinator for the 62nd annual event that will kick off Thursday at the Clay County Fairgrounds. She tells KICD News the convention is expected to bring around ten thousand people for the daily events.

Wright says the National Trappers Association has a two-fold mission and puts on multiple large gatherings like this every year.

With the influx of visitors going into the weekend and every available hotel room booked within a 40 mile radius of Spencer, local residents can expect some longer wait times at restaurants and other businesses.

The public is welcome to attend the National Trappers Association Convention at the Clay County Fair.  Gate admission is $10/person or three day pass is $20/person; and 12 and younger the admission is free.
