Edward MacFadden Purdy
On November 25, 2021, Edward MacFadden Purdy passed away at home, surrounded by his family. He was better known to his friends as Ted or Ed. He was an incredible storyteller that loved to make people laugh. He made friends wherever he went; many he stayed connected with until his passing. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trapping, exploring much of Western Montana. He also loved reading; going to the public library weekly, bringing home books on many subjects which always resulted in overdue fines. Ed was always ready to help anyone and always had something kind to say. He was a gentleman and lived his life to the fullest.
Ed was born on October 31, 1952, in Minneapolis, MN to Edward F. Purdy and Jane M. Purdy. They remained in Minneapolis until he was around 10 years of age when they moved to Tampa, FL. Ted graduated from Plante High School in 1970. After attending Clearwater Community College, he made his way to Montana to attend the University of Montana where he earned his business degree. While going to school he worked construction and was an ambulance driver.
Ted met Peggy Purdy (Gunderson) in 1980, and they married in 1982. In 1984 to his great delight, his daughter Megan was born. In 1986 he was thrilled when daughter Jane was born. He nicknamed Megan "Schmeggie" and Janie "Little Bud." He loved all their activities and was happiest when he was with them.
As he aged, he developed a few medical conditions which were difficult for him. Regardless of his difficulties, he maintained his cheerfulness through it all, until his final days. He told anyone asking that he was "just ducky," even if he was not. Ed's parents preceded him in death, along with aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Peggy, his daughters Megan and Jane, son-in-law Jim Ruward, his sister Christy Purdy and his many friends and family.
A celebration of Ed's life will be held on Saturday, August 13th at Heritage Hall, Fort Missoula at 1:00pm.

Peggy and family,
I am so sorry to hear of Ted's passing. My heart goes out to all of you. I wish I could attend the Celebration of life on Saturday, but unfortunately will be out of town. I will, however, be thinking of you all. I know there will be a great turnout since he was such a nice man. He will be missed
