Daniel M. Martin, Sr.

Daniel M. Martin, Sr. of Grand Rapids, MN passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at the age of 70 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth, MN.

Dan was born in 1949 to Thomas and Nora Martin in Hibbing, MN. His family settled on Swan Lake near Pengilly and Dan grew up hunting, trapping, and fishing with his brothers. Dan graduated from Greenway High School in 1967 and shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. While stationed at Camp Pendleton in southern California, he met Cheryl Strickland, the love of his life. After returning from his overseas deployment during the Vietnam War, he and Cheryl were married on October 3, 1970 in Morro Bay, CA. Dan and Cheryl returned to Minnesota where Dan work as Union Carpenter until he started his own construction company. Dan later started Dan Martin Snowplow Sales and Service.
