Gray is a rather drab color, but there are exceptions.
These photos taken by Linda Pallis in Lake Carey prove that gray can be beautiful. Pallis snapped several photos of this gray fox on May 20, and they highlight the furbearer’s unique color scheme. With a mottled gray coat accented by a black streak on the tail and red slashes on each cheek, the gray fox is anything but dull.
While this gray fox was photographed in an open area, the species typically prefers woods. They are a bit smaller than a red fox and feast on small rodents, snakes and even berries and carrion.
While the gray fox may not be as brightly colored as the red, it is just as beautiful in its own unique way.
