Coyote Sighted In New Rochelle

Police said if residents see a seemingly healthy coyote they should be aggressive in their behavior.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Police in New Rochelle are reporting the sighting of a coyote in the area of Hansen Lane. A message was posted on the city’s website Thursday.

Police said to exercise the following cautions to avoid conflict:

  • Be mindful of children and pets while outdoors.
  • Do not feed coyotes.
  • Remove all outside food sources including pet food and bird seed.
  • Make your garbage inaccessible.
  • Don’t let your pets run free.

If you see a seemingly healthy coyote, be aggressive in your behavior, by making loud noises, waving your arms and throwing sticks and stones.
